Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS)

NDPS

This Act prescribes stringent provisions for the control and regulation of operations relating to Narcotic Drugs (including Manufactured Drugs and Essential Narcotic Drugs), Psychotropic Substances and Controlled Substances. It also provide the framework for the forfeiture of property derived from, or used in, illicit traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, to implement the provisions of the International Conventions on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and for matters connected therewith. This Act and Rules although designed to prevent and combat abuse of and illicit traffic in Narcotic Drugs (including Manufactured Drugs and Essential Narcotic Drugs), Psychotropic Substances and Controlled Substances, but also contains provisions to ensure use of such Drugs and Substances for medical and scientific purposes.
